Kote Abbey Falls is known as the hidden Jewel of Coorg. It is a tranquil and lesser-known waterfall located in the lush hills of Coorg. This hidden gem is perfect for those looking to escape into nature. The waterfall is situated about 25 km from Madikeri.
A temple of Lord Supremo Shiva in the name of Bhagandeshwara embellishes the place. It is the local belief that Kaveri, revered as Dakshina Ganga, comes out of the matted hair locks of Shiva here. Bhagamandala is situated on the river Kaveri in its upstream stretches. At this place, the Kaveri is joined by two tributaries, the Kannike and the mythical Sujyothi river. Bhagamandala is located about 33 km from the district headquarters Madikeri.
Sunny Side, the erstwhile ancestral house of General Thimayya, who served as the Chief of Army Staff from 1957 to 1961, has been renovated and converted into the museum in Madikeri. The museum showcases memorabilia, including weapons and military uniforms and houses ‘Himmat,’ a battle tank at the entrance in addition to a supersonic fighter jet, MiG 21, both of which were used in the 1971 war. The museum is located in Madikeri city.

Dubare is the place where elephants used to be trained for Mysore Dussehra. However, now these animals are used for jungle rides. These elephants are trained under naturalists. Tourists can observe elephants in detail and from quite close. When the water level is more, there are boats that take visitors to the other side of the river and when the water level is low, one has to cross the river on foot to reach the camp.The timings for Elephant interaction at Dubare Elephant Camp is from 9 AM to 11 AM in the morning and again from 4.30 PM to 5.30 PM in the evening. Dubare is located about 28 km from Madikeri.
The Golden Temple also called Namdroling Monastery stands beautifully amidst the scenic landscapes, emanating peacefulness and calmness.The temple houses three captivating golden statues, namely of Buddha, Padmasambhava, and Amitayus. Each statue is about the height of 40 feet. Every part of the temple depicts beautiful designs. It is said to be the largest teaching centre Nyingmapa which is a prime a lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. Golden Temple is located about 34 km from Madikeri.
Kaveri Nisargadhama Forest Park is a island formed by the extensive Kaveri River which presents an alluring natural setting where tourists can admire the sight of River Kaveri flowing gloriously and hear birds chirping. Upon reaching here, one would be treated to a luscious view of dense bamboo groves, fragrant sandalwood trees and elaborate teak trees. Nisargadhaama is located about 27 km from Madikeri.
A forest trail leads from these falls to the Brahmagiri Peak. The falls is also known as the Lakshmana Tirtha Falls, derived from the name of the tributary of Cauvery which starts from these falls. According to popular legend, Rama and Lakshmana, passed along the Bhrahmagiri range whilst searching for Sita. When Rama asked Lakshmana to fetch him drinking water, Lakshmana shot an arrow into the Bhrahmagiri hills and brought into being the river Lakshmana Tirtha. Iruppu Falls is located about 75 km from Madikeri.
Nagarahole is an important Tiger Reserve in Karnataka and is a major hub of conservation under Project Tiger and Project Elephant. The Protected Area supports large assemblages of carnivores and herbivores: Tiger, Leopard, Asiatic wild dog and Sloth bear, Asiatic Elephant, Gaur, Sambar, Chital, Muntjac, Four horned antelope, Wild pig, Mouse deer and South-western langur. Nagarahole is located about 66 km from Madikeri and 30 km from Iruppu Falls.(Safari Timings : 7.00 am to 9.00 am | 3.30 pm to 6.00 pm)
Mallalli Falls is located at the foot of Pushpagiri Hill Ranges. These falls are created when the River Kumaradhara flow down from over 200 feet creating a mesmerising scene. The best time to visit the falls is the monsoon season as during this time the falls have plenty of water. Even the greenery around is at its best during this time. Mallalli Falls is located about 52 km from Madikeri and 25 km from Somwarpet.
Chelavara Falls is a natural waterfall formed by small stream, a tributary of Kaveri. It is a mesmerising sight to see the huge white curtains of water cascading down amidst lush green surroundings. The surroundings of the falls are enveloped in the intoxicating fragrance of coffee from the nearby plantations. Chelavara Falls is located about 36 km from Madikeri.
